David is a professional metal smith and home improvement expert. His experience with the more notable names in the metal industry give him a broad reach and make him a resourceful problem solver.

Experience: Seco architectural systems (David was responsible for the installation of the metal panels atop the UNC cancer research center, metal siding panels for the Chapel Hill water treatment plant and custom metal work for the United Pharmaceuticals Corporation headquarters building located in the RTP); Berg Metal Roofing (charged with the metal roofing and solar panel installation of Carrboro’s first sustainable eco-village).

Since that time David has made headway in bringing novel and dynamic building solutions to people of various socio-economic backgrounds and budgets. Among the numerous projects that Cool Metal Roofs has accomplished in the community, none is more important than seeing every household with a life-long solution for their property that reduces energy costs and increases home equity.

Q:  Why did you choose to start a metal roofing business?

A:  “I believe in offering solutions towards making the world a more sustainable place to live. I based my business on the need for a long-term solution, rather than a commodity homeowner’s would have to replace every 10 years. Most people think of metal roofs on old farmhouses, this is not the case anymore. In the last several years the desire for metal roofs has become more popular because they make sense. It makes me proud of what I do! Just look around your neighborhood and think how clean and beautiful it would be if every home had a metal roof! No more asphalt shingles. Petroleum shingles are listed among the leading causes for ground water contamination by the EPA, this said I believe its time we do something about that. ”
